Judge George Bridges was born in Chicago, Illinois. He obtained his B.A. Degree with Honors from National Louis University and his Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law. Judge Bridges has served as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Lake County State's Attorney Office for three years and as the Chief of Police for the City of Waukegan for five years.

Judge Bridges’ service on the bench commenced in March 1995, when he was appointed to serve as an Associate Judge in the 19th Judicial Circuit. He was later elected a Circuit Judge after being appointed to that position by the Justices of the Illinois Supreme Court. During his 21-year tenure as a Judge, Judge Bridges served as the Presiding Judge of the Criminal Felony Division and Supervising Judge over the Juvenile Division. In September 2019, the Illinois Supreme Court appointed him to the Second District Appellate Court.

Judge Bridges is a Life Member of the NAACP, and an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Lake County Bar Association. He is a current member of the Illinois Supreme Court's Committees on Equality and Judicial Performance Evaluation, having previously served on Supreme Court's Committee on Juvenile Courts.

Judge George Bridges is the recipient of numerous awards and honors in recognition of his work in the community and the legal profession, such as the Law Enforcement Valor Award, and the Most Influential African-American in Lake County Award. Lastly, and most importantly, Judge George Bridges is a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a proud child of God.
